More and more of our industry customers are turning to social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter for social recommendations and help when it comes to buying a new product or service. Kismet Hosting has recognized this trend and is pleased to announce its presence on Twitter with the user names KismetNetworks (for hosting advice and sales) and KismetHosting (for service status updates). I'd like to answer a few questions about how we are using Twitter to better our business. Are you spamming people with hosting offers? No! We are not forcing our services on to anyone. We'd much rather start a dialogue with potential customers to discover what they require and most importantly if Kismet Hosting can realistically offer the service they need. In addition to working out the potential customers needs we are happy to recommend some other hosts as well as ourselves and better ways of using their hosting. We like to think of this as the personal touch... How do you find potential customers? We use a number of tools to scan the public time-line looking for people posting tweets asking for help of advice. These are then looked at by a human and a personal response is written offering our assistance. We often invite potential customers to email us so we can engage in longer more detailed discussions. Once you know a potential customer needs website hosting, will you bombard them with offers? No, we have a protocol in place to avoid harassment of our friends on Twitter. When we discover you may need website hosing, we'll 'follow' you and send you just two @replies. The first reply is a personal note offering assistance and the second reply is a link to this post explaining how we use Twitter. If you don't reply to us then we won't pursue you further. That sounds great, but I'm not in the UK Don't worry, while all our prices are worked out in British Pounds, we can also bill you in US dollars. Also, most of our servers are based in the United States so speed should not be an issue for you. Will I get a better deal by using the Twitter service.
